Project Names
Throughout the app I think it would be useful if the names of projects were immediately identifiable as being names and not some other form of entity. What I mean by this is that, for example, in the list of projects in the menu bar I think it would be more intuitive if there was a slight difference in appearance between projects names and 'functions' like 'Manage Projects'. Perhaps a slight difference in colour?

I think so too. You'll notice the functions have icons next to them, but the projects do not. I did try just a bullet, but the standard one looked too large. Text colour is one possibility. or maybe background colour.
Also when I am editing a note, I would like a reminder of the project name that note is in.
